Micellar Casein is a very slow digesting and rich protein source that releases amino acids to your muscles for up to 7 hours at a time.  It provides a very strong anti-catabolic effect to anyone looking to build muscle or lose fat.

Due to it’s very sustained release of amino acids, it’s best used right before bed to prevent muscle tissue breakdown during the fast provided by sleep.

Whenever we are dieting hardcore or even trying to add a bit of muscle we make this shake before bed.

  • 3 Scoops of Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein Protein
  • 2 Tablespoons of Udo’s Oil or Natural Peanut Butter
  • Consume half of the shake at bedtime
  • 3.5.5 hours later (when we wake up to use the Bathroom) we’ll consume the other half of the shake

This gives us about 60-70gms of slow digesting casein and another 25-30 gms of EFA’s to ensure our bodies stay in a positive nitrogen balance(anabolic state)even while sleeping for 5-8 hours.  (yeah right—since The Muscle B was born we rarely even get more than 5 hours a night).

Doing this will make a huge difference especially when you are dieting.  It will significantly help you preserve muscle on reduced kcals.
