The Muscle Couple with a quick synopsis of Anh’s pregnancy so far.
We’re planning on getting very detailed with a couple of posts a week from here until she gives birth. Our goal is to inform all expectant mothers of “everything” that’s going on with her so it can be a sort of guide for pregnancy fitness, nutrition and helpful tips.
1st Trimester
Anh found out she was pregnant while in Houston in April. She was feeling extremely exhausted and had lots of strange food cravings. Her first Dr. appt was May 5th.
EXERCISE
Anh has stuck to her regular Mon thru Friday Cardio schedule.
- Lifecyle bikes/Stair Master – High/Low intervals for 15-20minutes
- Legs – lunges/squats, leg press, leg curls(hamstrings), jumping exercises
She takes The Muscle B to the Kids Club at Gold’s Pasadena usually between 10AM and 1PM.
At night(4x per week)she trains with Jay and is still able to perform most exercises.
We started to “tone down” Anh’s training intensity and volume at the beginning of June. (End of First Trimester).
NUTRITION
Anh’s nutrition hasn’t changed very much. She definitely snacks more often and she has all sorts of cravings for weird foods.
We’re both pretty lenient in realizing sometimes she needs to eat what she needs to eat. She really tries to avoid FAST FOOD and REFINED SUGARS as much as possible.
She is also avoiding most supplements with the exception of her neo-natal vitamins and minerals. No energy pills, thermogens or caffeine.
Her normal diet looks like this:
Meal 1-Coffee-2 Eggs Over Easy and English Muffin
Meal 2-Protein Shake after Cardio
Meal 3-Tuna and Egg Salad Sandwich
Meal 4-Dinner (Lean Protein-Brown Rice-Veggies)
Meal 5-Oatmeal with Whey Protein
Snacks-Food Should Taste Good Chips(Costco)-Sliced Apples(Costco)-Watermelon Cubes
Anh’s pregnancy symptoms after the first 12 weeks:
- Morning sickness and Night Sickness
- Occasional Headaches
- Exhaustion
Anh’s Morning sickness remedies :
- Ginger tea or pills
- drinking lemonade
- crackers
- complex B-50 pills
- preggo pops-Jolly Ranchers or Dumb Dumb Lollipops
Alexandra has entered the “Terrible 2 Stage” at 18 months now. She rarely sleeps and is becoming more difficult in many ways.
It’s hard to tire her out but Anh does her best job between taking her to parks and letting her play with other kids in Kids Clubs and Day Care. At night Daddy manages her care after 8PM with Tinkerbell Showings (on an endless loop).

We’ll provide some more photos of Anh’s current condition in the next update discussing the 2nd Trimester. (later this week) We’ll also dive into her fitness program a bit more discussing what she can do and what she avoids.
