Hey Gang!

The Muscle Couple with a regular new feature to the site.

Stronger-Harder and More Defined Muscles”.

It will offer advanced tips for developing your musculature specific to your relevant goals.  We’re kicking it off by discussing the “50 Minute Rule”.

When you go to the gym, how long does it take you to complete your Resistance Training Workout?

Make It Happen in 50 Minutes Or Less at Every Workout!

If you are training specific muscle groups to the limits of your physical ability, there is no way your Weight Training should take longer than 50 minutes.

Examine what it is you are doing that’s precluding you from finishing your lifts in under 50 minutes?  Seriously.

Likely reasons preventing you from finishing in under 50 Minutes.

  • YOU ARENT WORKING HARD ENOUGH!
  • Gabbing to other gym members
  • Taking Cell Phone Calls or Returning Emails
  • Not having a specific pre-designed workout to follow<GYM TECHNIK-GYM TECHNIK-GYM TECHNIK>
  • Taking too long in your rest intervals between sets
  • Training in a time where your gym is too crowded

If it takes you bringing in a Stop Watch to the gym and starting the timer upon your first set, do it.   And obviously eliminate all of the reasons listed above.  Or at least make a conscience effort to cut down on them.

You will be amazed at how much more productive your weight training will become once you consistently push your body to it’s limit in under 50 minutes at every workout.  This rule applies to any type of weight training.   And even if you are training with a partner/spotter, there should be no reason you can’t accomplish this goal.

Make it happen!

This is a great guide for folks. Whether you are doing one muscle group, muscle group pairs or a full body routine, you are wasting your time if you spend more than 45-50 minutes on resistance training.

Plus, if you get your business handled in a timely manner, you will be adding a beneficial cardio aspect to your routine. I know that when I am slightly winded between sets (it usually takes me an exercise or two to get there) I am working at a proper pace.

Absolutely agreed, this is one of the reasons I’ve long been a fan of investing in having quality equipment at home. Too often I’m stuck at overcrowded gyms waiting to rotate in on a given exercise — and that’s even during off-peak hours. (Denver gyms are packed packed packed)

One question: in an ideal situation, where you’re never forced to wait for someone else… do you feel there’s a minimum time that you should wait between sets and/or different exercises?

I typically work my individual sets to exhaustion, with a 30-second rest between each set. Then maybe 2 minutes between exercises.

    Thoughts?
