I’m so sick and tired of hearing about “Cheaters” in sports. Just what the hell does that mean anyways? If everybody in the general public really knew how commonplace Performance Enhancement in society was, they’d keel over in shame.
This “dirtly little secret” shouldn’t be to anybody paying attention. Look at Baseball and what’s gone on there for the last 3 years. Do any of us really think the same issues aren’t prevalent in Football-Basketball-Soccer-Hockey etc? And what about Hollywood and the actors who remake themselves for roles?

If every pitcher was on steroids too, how did Barry really have an advantage?
It’s simple. Millions of dollars are at stake. People’s entire families and generations of their familes after can be taken care of with the money available from a pro contract. Of course athletes will do things they presume to give them an edge. As Jim Rome says, “If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying!” People will naturally try and cut corners or take short cuts in an effort to one up their competition. It’s human nature.
And trust me when I tell you, performance enhancement is an advanced scientific discipline. The makers of the designer drugs being used by pro and college athletes are light years ahead of the drug police trying to prevent their usage. Performance enhancing drugs are everywhere. There are PE’s that improve your stamina and speed. There are some that make you leaner and smarter. And of course you know about the ones that make you bigger and stronger.
In the Muscle Couple’s opinion it’s time we draw the line on the definition of “performance enhancement”?
If a 45 year old man/woman sees an endocrinologist who tells them their natural hormone levels are low and prescrbibes testosterone/progesterone, how is this any different from an athlete using the same/similar drugs to improve their performance? What about people who have lasix surgery? How is this not using modern science to improve performance?
The reality is that performance enhancement is filtered throughout all levels of society from drugs to modern medicine. People should not be villified as “cheaters” or “shortcut takers” if they choose to use or engage to improve their specific endeavor or skill. If a person is smart enough to understand the risks and rewards of using, then it’s their choice and they will be responsible for their own actions and results. And if it’s an equal playing field from an opportunity standpoint, how does anyone ever really have a true advantage? In our opinion, live and let live.
MC Tip of the Day
You should be supplementing with Fish Oil or a Multi Spectrum EFA supplement. The benefits of Essential Fatty Acid supplementation are too numerous to mention. They will improve your skin, your mental health, your immune system and your body’s ability to regenerate itself. No person should do without.
